I think I am going to LOVE this season of The Voice!
I’ve always enjoyed this show but this year? It’s better than ever, especially if Monday night’s vibe carries through the season.
New Judges, New Highjinx
The new judging panel of Michael Bublé, Gwen Stefani, Reba McIntyre and Snoop Dogg just rocks IMO.
I’ve seen almost every season of The Voice since the beginning and feel this panel is one of the best.
It’s obvious the four judges respect each other and have great camaraderie. While other judging panels have been friendly, this one is different. This one has soul, and not just the musical type. I mean soul as in caring and love for one another.
Yes, yes that sounds corny but it’s true! If they gave each other a physical high-five every time one complimented the other, their hands would be black and blue.
Snoop Is Sunshine
New judge Snoop Dogg joined the judging panel after returning from his hosting gig at the Paris Olympics. The man is full of personality and goodwill even on a bad day.
The Voice’s core purpose is to mentor new talent. So far, Snoop Dogg has shown the most interest in pursuing this concept.
He took on a young singer, ChrisDeo, who clearly needs a lot of work but said he picked her because he wanted to help her grow.
Snoop knows she is a very (very) long shot to win and doesn’t care. He sees something in her and wants to be supportive.
That, my friends, is what mentorship is about.
P.S. Did you know Snoop Dogg’s real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.? I did not. So there you are.
Since When Are Canadians Funny?
Who knew Michael Bublé was so funny? I’ve seen him on talk shows, but I’ve never spent a lot of time watching or listening to him. He kept me laughing with his antics and quick comments.
Did you catch that he’s mentoring Kiara Vega out of respect for his wife, who is from Argentina? The man knows where his bread is buttered. 😉
Girl Power
I love the dynamic between Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire; it seems their friendship is true and not for show.
I forget that people in the entertainment industry are people, too, with feelings, families, and friendships. You can tell these two genuinely like each other; you can’t fake that on TV.
Get Better, Fast!
We’ve only had one night of blind auditions but so far, only two singers stood out to me: Sofronio Vasquez and Danny Joseph.
The rest were better than average but not great, so I hope the show kicks things up talent-wise.
Change In Music
Listen, I like Blake Sheldon but I’m glad The Voice seems to be changing so we’re not getting as much ‘country.’
The only thing that would make this new panel perfect is if Niall Horan were back. He’s wicked smart.
